About Me:

I live with my family just outside of London. I am a systems engineer and proud mum of two children. I love to read, sing, dance and eat delicious food.

My Work:

I am a systems engineer at Johnson Matthey. My role involves working with lots of different people, between Design stage and large scale manufacture of the catalysts.
My Typical Day:

After dropping my children off to school, I log in for work at 9am. Most of my morning involves speaking with different teams about projects to support new catalyst designs moving into our Plants (factories). I would then stop for lunch and may go for a walk. After lunch, I spend my time working on improving systems and processes. This can include running workshops with colleagues from different teams, creating process maps (diagrams) to show how a process moves from one step to another and some time to plan tasks for the next day. My working day finishes at 4pm.
What I'd do with the prize money:

I would love to donate the money to a local school so that they can improve their onsite STEM facilities.

Education:

I went to a local primary and secondary school in East London. After school I stayed on to complete A levels at the Sixth Form.

Following that, I went on to study for a degree at UCL (University College London)

9 A-C grade GCSEs

3 A-levels in Maths, Chemistry and Biology

Work History:

While studying, I worked part-time in a department store café and in Woolworths (Entertainment department).

I have been working for my current employer for over 18 years but have changed roles many times. I have worked in Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics (Warehousing and Shipping), Data Analysts roles and now in Engineering.
