About Me:
I volunteer with Reading Friends of the Earth and enjoy rock climbing, eclectic music, poetry and art exhibitions, and movies. I believe that if everyone spent at least 2 hours per month to volunteer to support a cause that is important to them then the world would be much closer to matching our best hopes and dreams.

managing the project,
design experiments while working in a multidisciplinary mode and collaborating with other field experts (within and outside JM)
working with intellectual property team to write patents,
closing down a project
and exploitation (transferring knowledge to others to move work forward and realise benefits)
managing/overseeing lab operations and building future capabilities

My Typical Day:
I do not have a typical day as my work brings me across a wide range of tasks including interactions with people across a range of places.

My activities are highly varied across running experiments, analysing data, creating/presenting presentations, analysing patents, reading scientific literature, project management, expanding collaboration network, traveling to various sites/labs, planning/managing lab needs, and managing personal tasks.
The flexibility is great but sometimes also demanding. On a given day I may wake up at 5:30 to travel to Liverpool and not get home until 9pm the next day or I may get up at 9:00 and feed my backyard chickens while eating a bowl of cereal and comfortably get ready for a remote meeting at 9:30 with travel to the office for lab work starting around noon and return home at 7pm.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would donate it to a local community organisation that has requested support from JM for their STEM activities but still hasn’t met all of their funding needs.

When my brother was 6 years old he went to school for halloween dressed as a smurf. They used the wrong blue makeup and it didn't come off of his face for 3 weeks. No joke :)
