Hi, I’m Steve and I live in Newcastle upon Tyne. I’m a contract engineer this means that I work for many different companies all around the UK so I’m often away from home. I enjoy music – I play keyboards and I love to sing karaoke, even if others don’t particularly like to hear me!

I am retired but started life as a Rocket Scientist with the Ministry of Defence.
After that I became a lecturer in Mathematics and Computer Science.
I am a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and show people around the Open University’s observatory.
I lead a tour company taking people all over the world to see astronomical events such as eclipses, aurorae, meteor showers.I now take education groups on visits to the National Museum of Computing located at Bletchley Park. I have my own Enigma machine

I am a scientist from the USA, living in Edinburgh for a year or so. I work at the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh. My wife (Heidi) volunteers with an organization that serves young mothers.

About Me:
I received my BS/MSc degree in manufacturing technology from the University of Miskolc in Hungary, MSc degree in mechanical engineering from Brown University in the USA, and PhD in mechanical engineering and material science from the University of Pittsburgh in the USA.
My past academic positions are teaching assistance and two post-doctorate contracts at the University of Pittsburgh, assistant professor at Vespreme University (Panonia), research fellow at Hungarian academy of sciences, and associate professor at Obudai University, successively.

Otherwise just spend time doing things with our boys! I volunteer with our community seashore group and help undertake marine biodiversity surveys. I am a qualified diver though mainly snorkel now.
