I am retired but started life as a Rocket Scientist with the Ministry of Defence.
After that I became a lecturer in Mathematics and Computer Science.
I am a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and show people around the Open University’s observatory.
I lead a tour company taking people all over the world to see astronomical events such as eclipses, aurorae, meteor showers.I now take education groups on visits to the National Museum of Computing located at Bletchley Park. I have my own Enigma machine

About Me:
I have a passion for lifelong learning. I became a scientist in 2022 following a career in something completely different. I completed science qualifications (a degree and a Masters) with the Open University while working, and I have a degree in Business Studies. I have volunteered in the past with the Museum of Science and Industry, an NHS hospital, The Access Project, and I have been part of a team that engages with work experience students at my place of work.
I am married and I live in Burton-on-Trent, although I am originally from Buxton. I have a step-daughter and a granddaughter, and I love spending time with them.
I do lots of running in my spare time because I like to be out and about, and I am a licensed England Athletics endurance coach. I like going to gigs, and over the last few months I have seen The Prodigy, Unkle, Linkin Park, Oasis, The Charlatans, and Imagine Dragons.

Hi there! Iβm a second-year PhD student at the University of Bath. Being a PhD student is a little different from regular school because I donβt attend lectures or take exams. Instead, I spend my time researching exciting topics as part of my PhD project! My research is about supply chain challenges in cutting-edge industries, like cultivated meat (you might have heard it called lab-grown meat). Iβm also part of a big project called cellular agriculture , where I work alongside brilliant scientists and researchers from different fields.
I live in Bath with my family, including my 9-year-old daughter. When Iβm not working, I love traveling and drinking black coffee. Iβm a SCA certified home brewer and barista, so I always start my day with a great cup of black coffee !

For over 20 years, I served as a university lecturer in mechanical engineering, focusing specifically on new, green, and renewable energy, as well as energy management.
