As a Chief Technician, I’m a manager of the Electronic Warfare for different platforms.
This means producing information for different Aircraft, Helicopters and Ships, so that they have the right information displayed in the cockpit/or on computers, to make the right decisions to avoid danger at the right times.
As a STEM ambassador I’ve been involved in building rocket cars, Flying aircraft which drop parachutes with eggs in and exploring Space Capsule Materials, where I got to see the SOYUZ module spacecraft that brought Tim Peake back from Space at the National Railway Museum in York.

My Typical Day:
I wake up around 06.30 am and have my breakfast, normally Weetabix and a drink of water and a cup of tea or coffee.
I walk to work, as I live on the Royal Air Force Station during the week, and arrive at 07:30 am. I will have a meeting to discuss what work is required, then I will speak to everyone in my different teams before having lunch.
In the afternoon, I will see how the work is progressing, if anything needs checking and progressing to the next stage, before going home at 4:30pm.
-
What I'd do with the prize money:
I would give students the opportunity (in different groups) to visit various STEM attractions to explore what each one has to offer.
I would then get them to complete a Project, to design, build and test their favourite STEM activity from the attraction they visited and present it to their fellow students.
This would involve explaining (like a dragons den style) what their activity does and what subjects they have used in their project (i.e. Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths not forgetting Art) to make it as unusual and stand out from the other teams.
-

I attended Malet Lambert Secondary School in Hull.
