Being born on the seaside, I love the sea. During the summer I enjoy spending the entire day on the beach.
I am a very active person, so I don’t like simply sitting and tanning, but I enjoy swimming, playing beach volley and walking on the shore.
Among my hobbies, there is not only sport, but also food. I like cooking for my friends and I particularly enjoy baking cakes. I also like reading and chat with my good friends.

I have both a bachelor and master degree in Biology, precisely molecular biology. I studied in Italy, but then I moved to Belgium for my PhD where I started to work on cancer. Once finished and obtained my degree, I moved to UK for my PostDoc (in other words, I am a Research Associate). I currently work for the University of Manchester/CRUK (Cancer Research UK) in Manchester and I still work on cancer. The aim of my research is to understand which is the best way to combine 2 specific treatments to improve patient outcomes. I do pre-clinical work though, which means, I carry out experiments on mice.

My Typical Day:
Depending on the day and on the experiments planned, I get up between 6.30am and 7.30am. I go to work by bike. Once at work, I get a coffee and I start my day. At lunch time (variable, but on average between 12:30-13:30) I eat with my colleagues. After lunch, I go back to the office and I have another coffee. Depending on the day, I leave my workplace between 4pm and 6pm. Then I go to the gym to train. After my training, I go back home, I cook for dinner and for lunch the day after, I read a book or study a bit of Spanish. I try to go to bed at around 11pm.

I usually go to work by bike: I am not far from my workplace, but cycling in the morning is a good way to wake me up!
The activities that I do for my job vary: sometimes I have full days of experiments, some others I need to analyze the data I generate from my experiments, other times I have meetings with my colleagues, or seminars and workshops to follow for my training.
At work I have lovely colleagues. We go well along, we help each other and enjoy having lunch together.
Once my day at work is over, I go back home, or better to the gym where, or I train with weights or I attend classes (spinning, pilates, yoga). Once I finish with my training, I go back home where I cook and eat. I often chat with my friends and family, but I also read a bit or watch some TV shows or series. I have recently started to learn Spanish, therefore some evenings are dedicated to that too. I try not to go to bed too late, above all if I have a long day of experiments the day after: resting is important to be fully active and efficient.
